Let me be a bit sarcastic here: with the right combination of the KPA's fuzz or distortion boxes, a proper pre stomp and post stomp eq and a well chosen shaper stomp you can simulate almost any pedal there is on the market. Gilmour has 3 of these with him live and as a coinaisseur of tone he might do this because the pedal gives him something amps alone don't give him. Would like to see that in the Kemper, even though I understand that the Kemper may not be meant as an all-in-one box in the same way as Helix and other products.Ĭongrats. I used to have the 3 knob T.Driver back when Tube Works made it - it was a good sounding pedal (you figure Andy Timmons still uses one) - but I dont think they are in production anymore - the 4 knob does sound better though. Helix seems to have this and even a Klon-model, which is one of the more popular types of pedal these days. Update (): Here’s my own build, in a slightly taller 1590BB enclosure I got from smallbear (I think they call it the 125BB) which gave just enough room for the tube. Run the 10 ohm resistor (R16) from the 12VAC source (probably a trafo in most cases) straight to the heaters. There’s also been reports of this being quite noisy, and I’m happy to pass on coi2001’s suggested fix leave the heater resistor off the board since that’s the main noise source.
